COVID-19 Update: We’re in this Together

As we all continue to do our part during these unprecedented times, we hope you and everyone in our community are safely navigating the adjustments needed to combat the COVID-19 virus that has hit us so hard.

You are likely aware that yesterday Governor Inslee issued a stay-at-home order for the next two weeks to all residents of Washington State.  As a result, the club will continue to be closed and classes paused going into April 2020.

As the club staff continues to work during this downtime, we have used this time to do our annual maintenance on all three gyms.  Completing this work now will eliminate the need for our regular summer closure. Renton is in the process of getting new dividing curtains hung down the middle of the gym. Bellevue is in the process of being completely repainted, new dividing curtains are being hung, the shower room in being remodeled, and a new retail system with a loyalty program is being put into action. Our clubs will have a fresh look awaiting your return!

As we continue to pay our overhead during this downtime, we are asking members that are in a financial position to do so to pay April 2020 dues as normal.  All memberships that are current for April 2020 will receive a membership discount of 10% off their monthly dues for the next 11 months as a thank you for helping us get through this difficult time.   Membership hold requests received before the end of this month will still be processed for April 2020 unless you would like to convert back to monthly membership to take advantage of the discount offer.  Since the club is closed, hold requests will be processed with just an email request while the club is closed; there is no need to return your membership card(s) for hold requests during this time.

All classes will continue to be paused and the session will pick up where it left off once we resume operation. The third session will be shorter for this reason and adjusted accordingly. There are no changes planned for summer camps.

We have also been working on how we will operate when the shutdown is over.  We will be revamping our classes and implementing social distancing into the lesson plan.  To minimize crowding during prime-time hours, members will be able to make court reservations for one hour and play continuously during that time on an assigned court.  This means there will be no waiting for a court and no court rotation needed during that time.  We believe this will eliminate the crowding that can happen on busy nights.  There are details to work out on this system so visit our web page as we get closer to re-opening to get the latest news.

If you have not done so already, please make an account on the Badminton America web site as this software may be used in the short-term to allow drop-ins and new players without a group of four to find other players to play with.  Ladder play will resume when the club opens but likely with smaller groups to reduce the number of players waiting.

Our hope is our members and staff will stay safe during this time and that the actions we are collectively taking will result with us opening soon.

Thank you again for your understanding and continued support.

Thank you and best regards,

Geoff Stensland
