Door Access, Summer Hours, New Events

Jul 23, 2021

We hope you are having a great summer so far. We have a few quick notes for you…

Contents:
1. Ladder Attendance
2. Door Access
3. Mukilteo Court Closure

4. Mixers
5. Casual Ladders
6. Power Hour Class

1. Ladder Attendance

For many of our ladders, there are a fair amount of players not showing up after registering. If you are not coming to the ladder please unregister yourself for the ladder so others may get promoted from the waiting list to the ladder. If we continue to see many no-shows we will begin issuing temporary bans for absences. We would rather not do this so please communicate with us if you are not coming to the ladder. Thank you.

2. Door Access

We’ve had a few questions with regards to door access and would like to clarify that members can use their cards to unlock all locations starting at 6:00 AM every day until close. Please note that from Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM there is a summer camp in Bellevue, and from 9:00 AM -3:30 PM there is a summer camp in Renton. The courts will not be available for members during those times as they are occupied for summer camp.

Door access ends when a location closes for the day. That means upon closing all staff and members must exit the facility. Bellevue, or any location, will not allow play after the club is closed. Current hours can be found on our website here: http://www.bellevuebadmintonclub.com/facilities

3. Mukilteo Court Closure

This weekend, the 24th and 25th, the Mukilteo location will be closed after 8:30 AM due to the Pacific Cup Team Tournament. If you are playing in the tournament then we will see you there! If you still want to play in the morning before 8:30 AM you may do so.

4. Mixers

We’re glad the mixers have been so popular. Please remember once your time is finished, reclaim your membership card from the board so the next group may begin on time.

Ballbutton has the capability to have a waitlist and also the capability for you to claim more than one spot in a mixer. We are not using these features so please only register yourself once per mixer. Everyone must book themselves for a mixer

Starting on Monday the front desk will print out the attendance list for the mixer. If your name is not on the list you will not be able to play in the mixer. If you are found playing in a mixer that you are not signed up for, you will be banned from playing in mixers for the current week plus the following week. If you would like to make any changes to your registrations for court reservations or be added to a mixer, please communicate that with the front desk so they may add you to the schedule. Thank you.

Casual Ladders

Our ladders have been very popular over the past year and are a great way to get games with other members at the same level that you might not regularly play with. Given that there is a rating system used for our ladders the environment tends to be more competitive than during regular casual play, and thus sometimes the extra dimension of ratings can lead games to feel ‘more serious’ than usual.

Beginning August 1st BBC will be introducing casual ladders. A casual ladder is just like a normal ladder except the scores do not get entered after the ladder is completed, so your rating will not be affected—for better or worse. Casual ladders will be labeled for women, men, singles, doubles, etc. Please register accordingly and be attentive to the title and location of the casual ladder.

You will sign up for a casual ladder in the same way you currently sign up for mixers on Ballbutton (guide found here). Once you arrive there will be blank ladder score sheets printed out with a corresponding match list. Write your name on one of the sheets and all the games are already organized for you. Once you are done with all your games you may continue playing until the timeslot is over.

Adult Power Hour Class

This class is a fast-paced high-intensity hour of drills and instruction in Mukilteo on Wednesdays from 7 PM – 8 PM. The class is for intermediate/advanced level players and will have less of a focus on technique, and more of an emphasis on building fitness, consistency, and power on the court. Players must be able to clear full court, hit all of the basic shots with consistency, and be able to cover the whole court. In every class, each student will receive 1 on 1 instruction from the coach. Capacity will be kept low at 8 students maximum for the current session. Please bring a water bottle and be warm and ready to begin promptly at 7:00 PM!

Class will be $20. You may drop in if there is extra space, or use the following link to register: https://bellevuebc.sites.zenplanner.com/calendar.cfm

See you on the courts!
